Publisher's comments (from the Foreword)
His major concern was to build up the faith of young
Christians, and his addresses were always intensely
practical and challenging. For some years Glenn had
been one of the regular broadcasters on the Truth for
Today radio programme. When the trustees of STP
looked back on Glenn's ministry we felt that it would be
fitting to collect his radio ministry and make it available
to all. We wondered how many radio talks he had
delivered. Perhaps as many as ten? Imagine our delight
when we discovered that he had given seventeen radio
talks in all.
So here they are. Listening to Glenn was never a comfortable
experience: there was always a very direct challenge in what he said, that in itself confirmed the
value of his ministry. Glenn was a great lover of the
Authorised (King James) Version of the Bible, and it is
used throughout this book. And the title? Read Elijah -
the Champion of God or Peter Ollerhead's closing words
in the About the Author section and all will become
I have applied as light a touch as possible in preparing
the transcripts of Glenn's radio talks for publication, to
retain the immediacy of the spoken word. They could
have been grouped by topic or Testament, but presenting
them simply in the order in which they were
broadcast reveals interesting links which are worth
I do hope your enjoyment in reading this book is as great as mine in preparing it. Read it with care. Think about what you read. Don't try to take in too much at a
time. But then - Do what it says! For, without doubt,
what Glenn would have looked for as his greatest legacy
was not a book, but a generation of Christians sharing
his excitement at "what a God we Christians have!"

About the Author
Further Reading and Listening
Glenn Baxter (1943-2010) spent his working life as an accountant. He became a Christian at the age of eight, and grew up to be an outstanding evangelist, pastor and teacher, with a special gift of challenging ministry for young people. At home in Southport he worked tirelessly with young and old in the activities of the Christians with whom he met, and his ministry extended beyond local Bible studies to camps, houseparties and conferences within the United Kingdom. In recent years, as its chairman, he wisely guided the activities of Scripture Truth Publications, and he was a regular broadcaster on the Truth for Today radio programme.
